innocent sorcerers

WHO ARE THEY?
A potent Polish concoction, brewing since 2002, containing one part Envee,
one of Poland's most talented new electronica producers
(making music and producing since 1992), and one part Mr Maceo Wyro,
one of Poland's most famous leftfield DJs - self- categorised as
"global dance fusion". Add to this one part Milkman, aka MC/DJ Sean Palmer,
the adopted Brit who can do more on a mic than there is room on this page -
as long as he has 2 litres of milk to wash it down with.
AND include for gigs, DJs Jealo and Misty,
depending on which way the music goes.

WHERE ARE THEY?
Warsaw, Krakow and any place that can handle and hold them.

WHAT SHOULD YOU KNOW THEM FOR?
Beyond their local notoriety, a mesmerizing first release
on FL.OZ in November 2003 "Believe & See" featuring
Joseph Malik, "The Lick" and "Walcyzk".
Gigs gigs and more gigs, especially Maceo - then resident DJ
of the now legendary "Filtry" (in 1992 when it opened as Poland's
first proper, non-discotheque club), bass-playing
for funk outfits, cool downtown parties in the Big Apple
when he lived there for a few years, a successful radio show
back in his homeland on "Radiostacja" (totally down with the kids),
opening for the likes of Dego, Afronaught, Howie B,
Richard Dorfmeister, US3 & Michael Reinboth, and and and.
Envee has composed soundtracks for film, theatre and advertising,
and released his debut album in 2003,
"Envee and the Innocent Sorcerers".

WHAT ARE THEY ABOUT?
Soul, lots of it.
Everything they listen to, everyone they work with,
anything they make, gotta have soul.
Beyond that, influences are diverse. Envee has deep-rooted taste.
Maceo's taste is deeply rooted in black music (jazz, funk, afrobeat too),
although he attacks his DJ-ing with more futuristic weapons
(nu-jazz, broken beats, 21st century soul, afrotech, modern brasilica,
deep and jazzy house, digital dub & hip-hop
to name but a few), and craze-sirring techniques -
"it's all about blending different rhythmic patterns
in order to keep people surprised without
losing a vibe, like a musical journey
from pyramids to spaceships, where past,
present and future become one"...

WHAT ARE THEY CURRENTLY UP TO?
Working on lots of new soulful recipes for future releases on FL.OZ.
Continuing to play the best clubs in Poland,
with more of their favourite music personalities
joining them each month. More gigs on the international
circuit too now that they have gone worldwide,
and live stuff too!

ANYTHING TO ADD?
"True music knows no borders!"

AND THEIR NAME?
Taken from the 60's feature film by Andrzej Wajda,
about a group of young jazz musicians livin'
their life just like the beatniks,
but under heavy communist regime.
The movie was also about the inability to express
true feelings in love.

a few words 'bout RQM... (as feat. on gods and suns & backtracx)
If any emcee could fluidly move between different
musical genres and sound hott - it would have to be RQM.
In the mid nineties he held it down as a resident emcee at the
NYC s infamous DARK GREEN parties riding on drum and bass and pretty much
anything leftfield alongside Perry & Smith and the members of Soundlab.
Later he stepped it up at the open mic sessions
whether hip hop or spoken word performing
alongside artists such as Mental notes
and Brooklyn s finest Little Egypt.
He blessed the same spots as Mos Def, Talib Kweli and Saul Williams -
performing at the Brooklyn Moon Cafe and Nuyorican Poet s Cafe.
Almost two years ago he relocated to Berlin and started
publishing songs with producers such as Al Haca s MMC
(A Different Drummer) or G Stonešs Stereotyp.
Currently he is working on his solo record,
featuring productions from the likes of Stereotyp,
Al Haca, Megablast, I-Wolf, Stefan Rogall and Kazar
of Atom Hockey to name a fewŠ
